Dear Honorable Officials and Tourism Agencies of Zimbabwe:

Please immediately halt any random or organized slaughter of companion animals for human consumption in Zimbabwe.

I understand the nation's food shortage has prompted an unprecedented amount of animal abandonment. Caretakers and welfare groups are unable to feed animals. Veterinarians cannot even humanely destroy unwanted animals, as Zimbabwe's economy struggles and the inflation rate soars to the highest in the world.

I respectfully ask Zimbabwe government officials to NOT harass or arrest animal advocates who seek international aid. Instead, protect your own citizens from an economy so beset with corruption and lack of guidance, some citizens have resorted to slaying and eating pets to survive.

Feed your nation, but do not ignore illegally slaughtered meat sold on the black market. All companion animals trust and love people, when given the chance. The fate of these gentle animals has become a matter of worldwide concern. Conscientious citizens everywhere will boycott Zimbabwe tourism and commerce if the killing of pets for human consumption continues.

I urge you to enforce anti-cruelty and humane slaughter laws in Zimbabwe. Please apprehend and penalize anyone who butchers and sells companion animals for human food. You can stop this now, or sacrifice global integrity as a nation that sanctions meat processed from pets.
