Dear Mr. Lansing and others of ShopNBC,
Less than a year after your company pledged to adopt a permanent fur-free policy, you have reneged on your promise, despite the fact that leading clothing retailers like J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Polo Ralph Lauren, and others have pulled fur from their stores forever.
Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives exposed to all weather conditions and confined to cramped, filthy wire cages. They often go without adequate shelter, clean water, veterinary care, or the ability to engage in natural behaviors like climbing, burrowing, and swimming. The intensive confinement causes many of them to go insane.
Fur farmers use the cheapest and cruelest killing methods, including suffocation, electrocution, gassing, and poisoning. Many animals are electrocuted by having rods inserted into their rectums and 240 volts sent through their bodies. The animals convulse, shake, and often cry out before dying of heart attacks. These crude killing methods aren't always effective, and sometimes animals "wake up" while they are being skinned.
With so many fashionable, comfortable alternatives available, there is no excuse for ShopNBC to sell fur or fur-trimmed apparel. I am therefore outraged that your company reneged on its promise. Please finally discontinue your sale of real fur NOW.
Sincerely

Dear Ms. xx,
We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. As a
customer-focused organization, we value all correspondence with our customers, which assists us in our efforts to provide each customer with a great experience at ShopNBC.
ShopNBC does not hold a position for or against the wearing of fur. As an
established retailer of high-end apparel and accessories, we strive to make
a broad selection of merchandise available to our customers, all of which
may not appeal to every customers taste. ShopNBC does not endorse the
wearing of fur, other than by simply making it available to those customers
who choose to purchase it.
Thank you for expressing your opinion and I hope this information helps clarify our position.
Regards,
Angie L.

Dear Ms L.:
thank you for clarifying your position and thereby helping me making my decision to ask all my friends, relatives, and acquaintances not to buy anything at all in your shops any more (and to multiply my emails to all their acquaintances) until you have adopted a slightly more humane position. You are buying furs first, i.e. you are paying murderers and giving them an incentive to provide more of them, to go on murdering. Neither does the end customer nor the seller lift the other's responsibility. Apparently you are ready to do/offer anything for money. I am appaled.
