No Animal Suffering in Peaceful Sri Lanka

Dear Madam or Sir:

Ominous news has arrived involving two veterinarians.  Prof. Jayanthe Rajapakse and Dr. Wasantha Kumara who adopted from KACPAW animal shelter perfectly healthy animals and then subjected them to horrendous mutilations with the barbarism and savagery that beings of very low nature can perform.

Prof. Rajapakse is making your university well-known around the world and has smeared its name with shame and blood.  Dr. Kumara, his accomplish, should also be punished for this atrocity. Prof. Rajapakse has lied and continues doing so with a lack of respect towards the scientific community, his peers and to the authorities that questioned him. Someone who takes the lives of  animals for the sake of sadism does not deserve respect. Those two individuals have no remorse for what they have done; they have lost all sense of humanity and decency by lying to everyone who has contacted them requesting a rational and humane response for this insane butchery and if they remain in their positions they will go on discrediting your university and the entire veterinarian community in your country.

Those poor animals had already had a horrible life until they got to KACPAW, where they were loved and catered. When they were given up for adoption, the members of the shelter thought those dogs were leaving the shelter for a better life, going to a loving home after all the suffering they had undergone in the streets. People at the shelter are devastated by grief. Prof. Rajapakse and Dr. Kumara took the animals under false pretences. When an animal advocate gives an animal up for adoption, a piece of his/her heart goes with it. We give them up for adoption in the belief that being with a family would offer them the possibility of receiving more attention than we can give them being as there are so many in our sanctuaries. An animal advocate would never give an animal to a research centre; we devote our lives to helping them and freeing them from the atrocities imposed by the people who abandoned them.

I would like to remind you that according to studies made by the FBI in the USA, a high percentage of criminals and psychopaths began their criminal careers inflicting pain and suffering on defenceless animals.

Respectfully I demand that these two criminals be removed from their positions immediately and that they not be allowed to have any animals in their procession for rest of their natural lives.

Finally, I will not cease in my efforts to make this known all over the world while your university insists on keeping this miscreant on the faculty at your university and their licenses are not revoked.
